Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is the pharmaceutical segment of Johnson & Johnson, developing treatments for complex diseases across a number of therapeutic areas including include oncology, hematology, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, pulmonary hypertension, and retina.
Position: Senior Legal Counsel, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine UK
Location: High Wycombe, UK
This broad and varied role will provide legal support to the J&J Innovative Medicine UK & Ireland business in all legal matters, both strategic and reactive. It will be based at the company’s offices which are currently in High Wycombe but which will be moving to central Maidenhead in 2026.
The role will sit within pay grade 31 of the Global Compensation Framework (GCF31) and will report into the Senior Legal Director.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide strategic and operational day to day support for the sales & marketing organization of the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine business.
· Draft and review a variety of agreements (for example in relation to joint and collaborative working projects, nursing and other homecare services, virtual sales force activities, distribution and supply chain and other commercial initiatives), and other general contractual matters, including the creation of templates.
· Draft and negotiate contracts to support the reimbursement of our products by NHSE or private healthcare providers or insurers, and advise on pricing policies and models (including discount and rebate structures).
· Advise on competition law questions, specifically in relation to pricing policy and commercial transactions, and engagement with Trade Associations, in collaboration with internal competition law experts as needed.
· Advise on public procurement law questions, including supporting the business and Patient Access team in responding to public tenders.
· Advise the business on relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the pharmaceutical field.
· Support internal Healthcare Compliance and Business Compliance functions, including in relation to any complex issues arising when contracting with Health
Care Professionals, in fee-for-service and other engagements, and in relation to grants and donations.
· Support other functions (Quality, Finance, Regulatory, Procurement, Health Economics and Market Access etc.) with general legal advice.
· Assist with management of disputes and litigation (e.g. PMCPA code complaints, product liability claims) in collaboration with colleagues in the Global Legal Organization and outside counsel.
· Provide legal support in relation to the implementation of product divestitures.
· Assist the business in interpreting and applying the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Code of Practice.
· Engage in training and education efforts including case study-based training to senior leadership, and teams across the organization.
· Drive ethical leadership in the organization.
· In general, function as a key point of contact for all legal matters impacting the Innovative Medicine businesses in UK&I.
